I have written several reviews where I have mentioned how much I love Meghan March and her books. I was looking forward to this trilogy; I loved the Mount trilogy, and the idea of another anti-hero had me salivating!
Unfortunately, these books were not my favorite. Numerous readers loved it, but for me, it fell flat in a few areas. My review will be vague in some ways because I don’t want to provide spoilers to anyone who might go and read these books.
Savage Prince was great! I loved it and adored the idea that we went through the entire book without learning the name of the leading man. There was heat and I was dying to get my hands on the next book when this one ended. The heroine is Temperance Ransome – she was introduced in the Mount Trilogy as she works for Keira at Seven Sinners. I like her! She is strong and has a will and mind of her own.
Iron Princess, the second book left me disappointed. While we learn our hero’s name, there are a few things in the book that just didn’t set right. I almost felt that Iron Princess and Savage Prince could have been one book. There is a good story here, but to me, it lacked something. The ending is good, but honestly, I was expecting it, so I wasn’t blown away or left on the edge of my seat. If you listen to the audiobook, it sort of gives away the perspective or the prologue – which meant I knew what was going to happen.
Rogue Royalty, the third book was better than Iron Princess. However, it left me with several unanswered questions. The story is coming to a climax and there is a significant twist that I was NOT expecting. I think that closed too quickly and it left me wondering how one character figured it out before the others. There was no explanation for it, either. It felt like there were several plot holes and Ms. March just didn’t explain them well enough.
Now, I won’t quit reading her stories. Just because this wasn’t my favorite, it could be yours. I own all three books so I might go back and reread them later and see if my review changes any.
Did you read this trilogy? If so, what are your thoughts?
